Question
My baby is 6 months old and started weaning at 5 months. I'm slightly confused about preparing meals, e.g spaghetti bolognese - do I add a normal tomato sauce or is there too much salt? Can I use normal vegetable stock or do I need to make my own?
Answer
I know how confusing it can be when you're home cooking for your
little one and trying to work out what they can and can't have.
Babies under 12 months of age should not have any salt added to
their meals, so things like adult stocks and sauces are not right
for their little tummies as they have added salt and don't use baby
grade ingredients. Luckily, Heinz have a Cook at Home range of
sauces, such as bolognese and tomato and basil, plus very low salt
stock cubes (vegetable and chicken). These have controlled levels
of salt, just right for your little one.
