Question

I recently bought a bottle of apple and mixed berry juice. It says to feed through a cup but my baby feeds through a bottle. Am I ok to do this?

Answer

Once your little one is 6 months old, it's best to start offering their drinks in a cup. This is to teach them how to tip it up to drink and also helps them progess to more adult style open cups as they get older. It's also a way to protect any newly developing teeth from decay - drinking from a bottle with a teat encourages children to 'nurse' the bottle and this can result in the drink inside being in contact with the teeth for a long time. This can result in tooth decay.

So I would recommend trying to introduce drinks in a cup for your little one and reducing your use of a bottle. It takes time and more than a few spillages but do keep trying. Good luck!
