Question
Can I give my 12 month old tomato ketchup.
Answer
The Department of Health advises that adult foods may be
introduced from the age of 12 months. It's still important to watch
out for the salt levels in foods though, as your toddler should not
consume more than 2g salt a day, whereas adults can consume 6g a
day.
If you'd like to offer tomato ketchup, go for the reduced salt
variety, which is suitable for all the family. You can also use it
like a tomato puree to add a little zing to your cooking, e.g. in
spaghetti bolognese.
