Question
My son will only eat cold jars. Is that ok? I give him blended food warm and he wont touch it. He wont eat stage 2 jars, only stage one.
Answer
All of Heinz jars, cans and pots are ready to eat, either warm
or cold, so it's not a problem if your little one prefers them
cold. You may want to keep trying with warmed food though because
in the future, when you move onto family foods, you will want him
to eat hot meals, so it's a good idea to try to get him used to
them now.
Remember, if you've already opened a jar and used some of the
food, store for no more than 48 hours and make sure you reheat it
thoroughly before serving. This is to make sure that any
bacteria that may have entered since you opened the jar are
destroyed.
You don't say how old your son is but as a guide, it's a good
idea to start introducing lumpier mashed food from the age of about
7 months. Leaving it much later can lead to problems with accepting
lumps and chopped food when your child gets older. For more
information about textures and introducing lumps, have a look at my
article here.
