Question
My baby is 6 months and 2 weeks old and still refusing food. I have given him a variety of food but he didn't enjoy any. What should do?
Answer
It's only natural to be concerned when your baby
doesn't start weaning when you expect him to. Rest
assured, all babies are different and start weaning at different
times.
Signs that he's ready to wean may be taking an interest in
the food you are are eating, being less satisfied with milk
alone or waking in the night when he has previously slept through.
It's also important that he can hold his head up without support
before starting to wean.
If you've found that your little one pushes food back out with
his tongue when you've tried to feed him, then it's probably that
he's just not ready. Wait a week or so and try again. If he simply
doesn't like the food, then do keep trying with individual tastes
and flavours as you may need to offer the same taste 8 times before
he likes it.
Good luck and do let us know how you get on.
