Question
Introducing lumps – when and how?
Answer
You can start to think moving from purees to a mashed texture
when your baby is about 7 months old. When introducing a mashed
texture, aim for soft lumps in a fairly thick purée, which your
baby can mush in their mouth. Hard lumps in a runny sauce such as
peas in gravy will be difficult for your little one. This is
because they'll find it tricky to separate lumps from the liquid
and may try and swallow both at the same time, which could cause
your baby to choke.
