Question

my 10months son doesnt want to drink formula milk at all, he only prefers breastmilk but I am a working mum so I only can breastfeed him in the morning, lunch time and evening and night time. Before, he eats his solid food but since last week, he stops eating anything beside breastmilk. what should I do; I am really worry about him. He is not a big eater, thus, he is quite small. he is only 7.5kg and 72cm at his 10months old.

Answer

I'm sorry your little one is having trouble eating. I know how worrying this can be.

It sounds like he is getting regular breast feeds but you could supplement these by expressing milk for him to drink when you are at work. Have a look at my article on expressing milk here.

To encourage your little one to eat, try offering food before a breast feed, as he may be full after a breast feed, especially if he has a small appetite already.

I would advise that you chat to your healthcare professional just to check your little one is not unwell which may be affecting his eating.

Good luck and do let us know how you get on.
