Question
My 2 and a half year old will eat vegetables but will only eat her food separated on the plate. For example, she won't eat spaghetti bolognese as the ingredients are mixed together.
Answer
I understand how difficult it can be when your little
one is a fussy eater. Rest assured, it's quite common for
toddlers to be picky eaters, whether that means they refuse to eat
vegetables or they will only eat food if it's separated out on the
plate.
If she is eating a wide range of foods and growing well, then
try not to worry too much. Try introducing some very simple mixed
foods like pasta pieces with a tomato pasta sauce on the side and
encourage her to mix them together. Or you could try simple
sandwiches with cheese or ham, or slices of fruit with yoghurt.
Then you can start building up to more complex combinations of
foods.
Good luck! Do let us know how you get on.
