Question

How thick should baby porridge and rice be?

Answer

Weaning is a confusing time and it's only natural wonder if you're getting the right texture.

In the first week or two of weaning, offer purees with quite a runny texture, to ease the transition from liquid milk to solids. The texture to aim for is like single cream. After your little one has got used to taking food from a spoon, you can gradually add a little less liquid when making up baby rice and cereals, to make a thicker puree that is more custard like.

Good luck and do let us know how you get on.
