Keeping in shape

'I did quite a lot of ante-natal swimming classes which were really fabulous'
Heidi. 30. went skinny, big, skinny, big!

‘I had two kids really quickly.  Before I had Max, my first, I was pretty skinny actually.  Don’t hate me for it, but I never needed to diet and I pretty much could eat what I wanted.  If anything I needed to put weight on.  I was about eight stone and I’m 5’9”, so I guess I was underweight.  Then, with Max I put on five stone.  I couldn’t believe it, it was like so much weight.  Most of it was water I suppose, though some of it might have been chocolate!

‘I didn’t do bad at my exercises towards the end of my pregnancy, I did quite a lot of ante-natal swimming classes which were really fabulous.  Then after Max was born I lost quite a lot of the weight fairly quickly.  I breast fed for about three months, apparently that gets a lot of the weight off really quick.

'I must have been super-fertile!'
‘After Max I was pregnant again in under six months.  Watch out for that time, I must have been super-fertile!  I’d got down to about 10 stone, which was probably a better weight for me anyway.  I’d filled out a bit, but I’d been skinny, so I could take it.

‘My second baby was a little girl called Amanda.  She’s lovely.  But as for the exercise, although I was doing a lot more running around because I already had a baby it was much harder to get to the swimming classes and things like that.  When I’d gone before some people had babies in chairs and things, but Max was just walking and really didn’t like staying still for long periods of time.

'I had these lovely big boobs!'
‘Then, again, when the baby was born having two meant much less time to keep in shape.  I guess my belly took a bit of a hammering having two babies so quickly and if I’m really honest I really hate my belly and my boobs now.  When I was pregnant and after I just had the baby I had these lovely big boobs, with cleavage and everything, it’s very exciting you know if you’ve never had cleavage before to suddenly have these… things in front of you!  But now I’ve got a saggy belly and saggy little boobs.  I really hate them.

‘But the belly’s going.  Very very slowly, but surely.  It’s been about 6 months and feels like I’m only half way to getting my belly back.  Unfortunately I don’t think there’s much I can do about the boobs.  Except maybe have another baby!  Joking!  Maybe!’

Did you know?
The size of your breasts doesn’t affect milk supply. As long as your baby is feeding regularly, your body will produce all the milk they need.
